The Irish Guards have been invited by Liverpool's Lord Mayor to exercise their right to "march through the streets of Liverpool". There will be a service in Liverpool's Anglican Cathedral at 10:00 hrs conducted by Canon Anthony Hawley and Father John Thompson with the Irish Guards Singers and Regimental Musicians. 11:00 hrs The Guards of Honour, consisting of No 1 Company will form up with the Queen's Colour and Regimental Colour, The Pipe Band and Corp of Drums will form up, along side the Association members and Cadets from Merseyside and Lancashire and march to St George's Hall. The Lord Mayor of Liverpool, Councillor Paul Clien, will take the salute. There will be a dedication of a memorial to all fallen comrades in St John's Garden, which will be unveiled by Major General Sir Sebastian Roberts. Afterwards there will be a Civic Reception in St George's Hall hosted by the Lord Mayor of Liverpool.
There will be a limited number of tickets available for the reception, due to priority being given to the serving members and their families. Applications from Association members should be made to the Branch Secretary, with SAE, for consideration.
